Monde Nissin Launches Better Food Forward to Make Better Nutrition More Accessible to Filipino Families
For many Filipino families, putting nutritious food on the table is about more than knowing which choices are healthier.
It is also about affordability, availability, convenience, and having the right information to make practical decisions every day.Monde Nissin Corporation is taking on this challenge through Better Food Forward (BFF), a long-term advocacy that brings together science, food innovation, nutrition education, and partnerships to help make better food choices more accessible and achievable for Filipino families.
Rather than treating nutrition as a conversation that ends with advice about what people should eat, Better Food Forward aims to look at the bigger picture: How can healthier options become easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to include in everyday Filipino meals?
Bringing Different Sectors to the Nutrition Conversation
The launch of Better Food Forward centered on “The Better Food Conversation: Nourishment on Every Filipino Plate,” bringing together experts and stakeholders from the nutrition, food, community development, government, and private sectors.
The panel featured Dr. Clarissa Juanico, President of the Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics; Cloyd Masaudling, Executive Director of Aguhon Movement for Governance; Jo Sebastian, registered nutritionist-dietitian and content creator; and Atty. Olive Misa, Head of Corporate and Government Affairs at Monde Nissin Corporation.
The event also brought together representatives from organizations and institutions involved in food, nutrition, agriculture, trade, social welfare, research, and education. Among those represented were the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FNRI), Philippine Association of Nutrition, Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutritionist Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines Foundation, Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network, and the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
The message from the conversation was clear: improving nutrition cannot rest on the shoulders of one sector alone.
“Better nutrition is not only about knowing what to eat. It is also about whether families can afford the food, find it where they usually shop, and understand how it can fit into their everyday meals,” said Kevin Carpio, Nutrition Advocacy Manager of Monde Nissin Corporation.
Dr. Juanico likewise emphasized the value of collaboration in creating food environments where healthier decisions are realistic for more Filipinos.
“When every sector works together, we can create environments where healthier choices are not only available but also accessible and achievable for everyone,” she said.
Making Healthy Eating Feel More Practical
Nutrition advice can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when families are balancing budgets, busy schedules, and different food preferences at home.
For Jo Sebastian, making better food choices does not necessarily mean completely changing the way people eat. Sometimes, small and practical additions can make a meaningful difference.
“We need to focus on making additions rather than restrictions,” Sebastian said, pointing to the simple example of adding cabbage and an egg to instant noodles.
Her message reflects an important part of the Better Food Forward approach: nutrition should feel attainable rather than intimidating.
For Filipino households, small improvements to familiar meals can be a more realistic starting point than expecting families to overhaul their entire diet overnight.
Better Food Forward Builds on Three Key Pillars
At the heart of the advocacy are three interconnected pillars: Products, Programs, and Partnerships.
- Through Products, Monde Nissin aims to continuously improve the nutritional quality of its food portfolio through science-based product innovation and renovation.
- Through Programs, the company seeks to strengthen nutrition education and provide consumers with practical information that can help them make more informed food choices.
- Through Partnerships, Better Food Forward brings together organizations and experts that can contribute knowledge, resources, and solutions toward healthier food environments.
Together, these pillars reflect Monde Nissin’s view that improving nutrition requires both better products and a broader ecosystem that helps people make those choices part of everyday life.
Monde Nissin Shares Progress in Nutrition and Product Innovation
As part of the launch, Monde Nissin highlighted progress already made across its portfolio.
The company reported that 73% of its revenue comes from fortified products, while 32% of its products have reduced sodium. It also reported that 100% of its portfolio is free from trans fats.
In 2025 alone, Monde Nissin products delivered an estimated 2 billion servings of Vitamin A, 3 billion servings of iron, and 542 million servings of Vitamin C to Filipino consumers.
The company also introduced the Monde Nissin Nutrition Criteria, a science-based internal tool designed to guide product innovation and renovation as the company works toward expanding its portfolio of healthier products by 2030.
Among the initiatives highlighted are sodium reduction across selected products, proprietary air-fried noodle technology designed to reduce fat and calories, and continued food fortification aimed at addressing key nutrient gaps.
These efforts form part of a longer-term strategy to make nutrition a continuing consideration in how products are developed and improved.
A Commitment That Goes Beyond a Single Campaign
For Monde Nissin, Better Food Forward is intended to be more than a one-time campaign or launch event. The advocacy is positioned as an ongoing platform where science, innovation, education, and collaboration can come together to address nutrition challenges.
“Today’s launch is not the end point. It is an invitation to continue the conversation and identify where our respective expertise, reach, and capabilities can complement one another,” said Rico Gonzales, Chief Business Officer of Monde Nissin Corporation.
He added that the company hopes to work with partners to establish priorities, develop practical nutrition solutions, and find credible ways to measure progress together.
At its core, Better Food Forward is built around a straightforward idea: better food should be within reach of every Filipino family.
Moving Toward a Healthier Food Future for Filipino Families
The nutrition challenges facing the Philippines are complex, and meaningful progress will take sustained effort from government, businesses, nutrition professionals, communities, educators, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Better Food Forward puts collaboration at the center of that effort.
As the advocacy moves forward, Monde Nissin aims to deepen its partnerships, strengthen nutrition education, continue improving its products, and support food choices that are more practical and accessible for Filipino households.
Because when better nutrition becomes easier to understand, easier to access, and easier to incorporate into everyday meals, healthier choices can become less of a challenge and more of a realistic part of family life.
