Acer Predator Atlas 7 Brings Flagship Gaming Power to a Smaller Handheld
Acer is giving handheld gaming another serious push with the new Predator Atlas 7, a compact gaming device designed to pack flagship-level performance into a smaller 7-inch form factor.
Unveiled at Acer’s next@acer global press conference in Berlin, Germany, the Predator Atlas 7 arrives alongside Project DualPlay Mini, a concept device that takes the idea of a gaming handheld in an entirely different direction by combining portable gaming with everyday productivity.
Together, the two devices highlight Acer’s latest approach to mobile computing: powerful hardware that does not have to stay tied to a desk.
Predator Atlas 7 Packs Serious Gaming Power Into a Compact Design
The Predator Atlas 7 (PA07-I51) is built for gamers who want the performance of a high-end handheld without stepping up to a larger device.
Under the hood, it can be configured with up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics, giving the handheld the hardware needed for demanding PC gaming in a portable format.
Acer is also pairing the device with Xbox Game Pass, giving users access to hundreds of games through a subscription while taking advantage of the broader Windows 11 gaming ecosystem.
For gamers who regularly move between home and travel, the appeal is straightforward: a device small enough to carry easily while still aiming to deliver the performance expected from a premium Predator gaming machine.
Dual Fan Cooling Keeps the Heat Under Control
High performance in a compact handheld comes with an obvious challenge: heat.
Acer tackles that issue with a dual-fan cooling system built around its Predator AeroBlade technology. One of the fans uses a precision metal design with 89 blades measuring just 0.1 mm thick, which Acer says can increase airflow by up to 10 percent.
The second fan uses a plastic design and works alongside Acer’s Vortex Flow tuning. Angled internal channels help direct hot air away from the chassis more efficiently, particularly when the system is under sustained gaming loads.
That cooling setup is designed to help the Predator Atlas 7 maintain performance without sacrificing the portability that defines the handheld category.
An 80 Wh Battery Designed for Longer Gaming Sessions
Performance is only part of the equation for a portable gaming PC. Battery life can make or break the experience.
The Predator Atlas 7 comes with a battery capacity of up to 80 Wh, giving players more room for extended gaming sessions away from a power outlet.
While actual battery life will depend on the game, settings, brightness and performance mode being used, the larger capacity shows that Acer is putting considerable attention on endurance alongside raw performance.
Built for More Comfortable Handheld Gaming
Acer has also redesigned the physical shape of the Atlas 7 around the way players actually hold a gaming handheld.
The device features contoured grips, a larger palm rest area, recessed keys and an anti-slip texture. These details are intended to provide a steadier grip and more comfortable control during longer sessions.
The joystick setup can also be configured with tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, which is designed to provide precise input while supporting anti-drift performance and zero dead zones.
For games that rely on nuanced trigger control, the handheld also uses Hall-effect analog triggers, allowing players to take advantage of a broader range of pressure and input.
A fingerprint reader built into the power button adds another practical touch, allowing quick Windows Hello authentication without relying solely on a password.
7 Inch 120 Hz Display Brings Games to Life
The Predator Atlas 7 features a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, making smooth motion one of the key elements of the display.
The panel supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and reaches up to 500 nits of peak brightness, while its 16:9 aspect ratio keeps the screen aligned with the format commonly used by PC games and multimedia content.
Acer has also added Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC surface treatment to improve scratch resistance and reduce glare. A tempered-glass screen protector is included as well.
Touch interaction supports 10-point multi-touch, giving users another way to navigate Windows and compatible games directly from the display.
Plenty of Connectivity for a Portable Gaming PC
Despite its compact dimensions, the Predator Atlas 7 is designed to connect with a wider desktop setup when needed.
It includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, supporting high-bandwidth connections for docks, external displays and accessories. Fast storage expansion is also available through UHS-II microSD support.
Wireless connectivity includes Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, keeping the handheld ready for modern wireless networks and compatible peripherals.
Acer’s PredatorSense software provides another layer of control. Players can monitor system performance, switch performance modes, customize RGB lighting and adjust gaming settings directly from the device.
Immersive Audio and Clearer Voice Chat
The Predator Atlas 7 is not just focused on graphics and performance.
The handheld features dual 2-watt speakers with DTS:X Ultra, designed to create a wider and more detailed soundstage during gameplay.
For multiplayer sessions and voice communication, dual microphones use Acer PurifiedVoice technology with AI-assisted noise reduction. The goal is to keep conversations clearer even when gameplay gets loud.
Acer Also Shows Off Project DualPlay Mini
Alongside the Predator Atlas 7, Acer introduced Project DualPlay Mini, an 8-inch concept device that asks an interesting question: what if a gaming handheld could also replace your mobile productivity device?
Rather than focusing exclusively on gaming, the concept is designed to switch between gaming and work.
The result is a device that can function as a traditional gaming handheld, a mini laptop and a portable productivity system depending on how it is configured.
One Device With Two Gaming Modes
Project DualPlay Mini offers two different approaches to gaming.
In one configuration, a built-in backlit physical keyboard transforms the device into a mini laptop-style setup. This layout is particularly suited to games such as first-person shooters where keyboard controls can be useful.
The handheld configuration provides a more console-like control scheme for other genres.
When it is time to work, the device can connect to an external display and function as a mobile productivity machine, potentially eliminating the need to carry a separate gaming handheld and compact computer.
A Flip and Swivel Design Changes the Form Factor
The most distinctive element of Project DualPlay Mini is its flip-and-swivel design.
The mechanism allows the concept to transition between handheld and mini-laptop configurations, giving the device two very different identities without requiring two separate products.
Acer has also incorporated a small anniversary detail into the design. To celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary, the words “Acer 50 since 1976” are embedded in Morse code on the back cover.
The concept is powered by Intel and uses a dual-fan cooling architecture similar to the Predator Atlas 8. This includes one Predator AeroBlade metal fan and one plastic fan, with the concept featuring thinner blades on the metal fan.
Acer Is Expanding the Definition of a Gaming Handheld
The Predator Atlas 7 and Project DualPlay Mini take different approaches to portable computing.
The Atlas 7 focuses on putting powerful Predator gaming hardware into a smaller 7-inch package, while Project DualPlay Mini explores how one device could serve both gaming and productivity needs.
That broader direction is becoming increasingly important as gaming handhelds evolve beyond being simple portable consoles. With Windows-based handhelds already capable of functioning as full PCs, manufacturers are looking for new ways to make these devices useful outside of gaming.
Acer’s latest concepts reflect that shift, combining high-performance hardware with designs intended for people who want more flexibility from their portable devices.

With the Predator Atlas 7, Acer is taking the performance of its larger Predator handheld lineup and placing it inside a more compact 7-inch design.
Its combination of Intel Arc hardware, a 120 Hz display, advanced cooling, an up-to-80 Wh battery, modern connectivity and optional TMR controls gives the device a strong focus on portable PC gaming.
Project DualPlay Mini takes the idea even further. As a concept, it shows Acer exploring what could happen when a gaming handheld is no longer limited to gaming and can transition into a compact productivity machine.
Both products point toward a future where portable PCs can be more versatile, more powerful and increasingly capable of adapting to what users need at any given moment.
