The Intern Korean Remake Opens Exclusively at SM Cinema Philippines This October

Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee bring a heartwarming story of friendship, career, and second chances to Philippine cinemas starting October 14, 2026.

Some of life's most meaningful connections happen when we least expect them. Sometimes, a fresh start comes later in life, and sometimes, the most unexpected colleague becomes the person who changes everything.

This October, Filipino moviegoers can look forward to a heartwarming mix of comedy, friendship, and life lessons as The Intern, the Korean adaptation of the beloved 2015 comedy drama, makes its Philippine debut exclusively at SM Cinema starting October 14, 2026.

Starring veteran actor Choi Min-sik and Korean actress Han So-hee, the film brings a fresh perspective to a familiar story about finding purpose, building relationships, and discovering that age is never a barrier to learning something new.

The Intern Brings a Heartfelt Story to the Big Screen

Set in the bustling streets of modern Seoul, The Intern follows Ki-ho, a retired veteran who takes on an unexpected new role as a silver intern at Woo22, a thriving fashion startup led by Sun-woo, a young and ambitious CEO.

What begins as an unconventional workplace arrangement soon becomes a story about two generations learning from one another. As Ki-ho navigates the fast-paced world of a modern startup, his experiences and wisdom bring a different perspective to the challenges faced by Sun-woo and her team.

Through moments of workplace humor, personal struggles, and unexpected friendship, the film explores what it means to start over, find a renewed sense of purpose, and build meaningful connections despite differences in age and experience.

With its distinctly Korean setting and a compelling cast, The Intern offers a fresh take on a story that continues to resonate with audiences across generations.

Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee Lead This Korean Comedy Drama

One of the film's biggest draws is the pairing of Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee, two acclaimed Korean stars who bring their own screen presence to this new adaptation.

Choi Min-sik takes on the role of Ki-ho, a seasoned retiree whose return to the workplace proves that experience and wisdom remain valuable in a world that never stops changing. Han So-hee plays Sun-woo, the driven young CEO navigating the demands of running a successful fashion business.

Their characters represent two different stages of life, each with their own challenges, expectations, and lessons to share. As their paths cross, the story highlights the value of looking beyond age and background to understand what people can learn from one another.

For fans of Korean films and character-driven dramas, The Intern offers a refreshing combination of humor, emotional storytelling, and relatable workplace moments.

The Intern Makes an Impressive Debut in South Korea

The Korean adaptation has already gained attention in its home market. Following its release in South Korea on September 16, 2026, The Intern debuted at No. 1 at the weekend box office, attracting more than 404,000 viewers during its opening stretch.

Now, the film is heading to Philippine cinemas, giving local audiences the opportunity to enjoy its story of friendship, ambition, and second chances on the big screen.
