Scrubs Returns on Disney Plus February 26 With Original Cast and a New Generation of Interns

The wait is over for longtime fans of Scrubs.

Disney Plus has officially unveiled the season one trailer for the beloved medical comedy’s revival, setting the stage for a two episode premiere on Thursday, February 26 exclusively on Disney+.

Set in present day, the new chapter brings back the original cast for more heartfelt humor, hospital hijinks, and emotional moments that made the series a fan favorite. At the same time, it introduces a fresh group of interns ready to shake things up at Sacred Heart.

What the Scrubs Revival Is About

J.D. and Turk are scrubbing in together for the first time in years. While medicine has evolved and a new generation of interns is learning the ropes, one thing remains unchanged, their iconic bromance.

As familiar faces and new characters cross paths, Sacred Heart Hospital once again becomes the backdrop for sharp comedy, meaningful friendships, and a few unexpected twists. The revival blends nostalgia with a modern perspective on the medical world, creating a series that feels both comfortingly familiar and refreshingly current.

Original Cast Returns to Sacred Heart

The 30 minute comedy revival reunites the stars who made the show a cultural touchstone:

  • Zach Braff as John “J.D.” Dorian
  • Donald Faison as Christopher Turk
  • Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid

Fan favorites are also stepping back into their scrubs for special appearances, including:

  • Judy Reyes as Carla
  • John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox

Additional guest stars include Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Phill Lewis, Robert Maschio, X Mayo, Layla Mohammadi, Amanda Morrow, and Michael James Scott, adding fresh comedic energy to the revival.

Behind the Scenes of the Scrubs Revival

The original series was created by Bill Lawrence, who returns as executive producer through Doozer Productions. Executive producers also include Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer, with Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke serving as both stars and executive producers.

Aseem Batra takes on the role of executive producer and showrunner, with Randall Winston also executive producing. The series is produced by 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios.

Why This Revival Matters

When Scrubs first premiered, it stood out for its unique mix of slapstick humor, fantasy sequences, and deeply emotional storytelling. It tackled the realities of hospital life while never losing its heart. Now, years later, the revival aims to capture that same magic while reflecting how healthcare and workplace dynamics have changed.

For longtime fans, it is a chance to reconnect with characters who feel like old friends. For new viewers, it is an opportunity to step into Sacred Heart for the very first time.

Mark your calendar for February 26 and get ready to scrub in once again.
