Grab and MOVE IT Team Up with ARK to Boost Food Security for Urban Riders
Grab Philippines and MOVE IT have joined forces with social impact innovator ARK Solves to launch a community-driven program that strengthens food security for gig worker families in urban areas.
At the heart of the partnership is Feed Back, ARK Solves’ flagship community exchange initiative that empowers households to grow fresh produce at home and share surplus harvests with neighbors. The program aims to improve access to nutritious food while fostering community resilience.
Nearly 1,000 Grab delivery partners and MOVE IT rider partners have already signed up for the pilot rollout, receiving seeds, training, and guidance on small-space gardening and composting. Local government units in Montalban, San Mateo, and Antipolo in Rizal are supporting the initiative, helping bring the program directly to riders and community leaders.
“Grab is committed to helping our delivery and driver partners and their families navigate shifting economic realities,” says Ronald Roda, Managing Director of Grab Philippines. “Beyond livelihood support, we want to introduce programs that enhance long-term well-being. Our partnership with ARK Solves provides families with tools to grow their own food and strengthen community food security.”
MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto adds, “Community has always been central to MOVE IT. Our rider partners support one another on and off the road. This program channels that solidarity into creating sustainable solutions that meet everyday needs.”
Over 16 weeks, participating riders will cultivate home gardens, learn sustainable food practices, and organize weekly neighborhood exchanges to share their harvests. These activities help build local networks that reinforce access to fresh, healthy food.
“This collaboration with Grab and MOVE IT marks a significant milestone for Feed Back,” says Ayesha Vera-Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of ARK. “By combining behavior-change strategies with a market-based approach, we can empower families in urban areas to grow and sustain productive home gardens where they are needed most.”
Since its inception, Feed Back has expanded to 120 communities nationwide, benefiting over 36,000 fishing and farming households. Following the pilot, Grab, MOVE IT, and ARK Solves plan to scale the program to additional driver- and rider-dense communities, applying lessons from the pilot to enhance impact.
Amid ongoing concerns about food security in the Philippines, despite a recent easing of food inflation to 0.7 percent in January 2026, the initiative represents a practical, community-focused approach to building resilient, self-reliant food systems.
