DLSZ Partners with E-Sports International to Build Safer, More Creative School Playgrounds

De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) has elevated its approach to student development by enhancing its playgrounds with safer, more imaginative spaces designed for play and exploration. In partnership with E-Sports International, the school has rolled out modern playground systems across its Alabang and Vermosa campuses, reinforcing its commitment to holistic education and student well-being.

The upgraded playgrounds feature the Let’s Play! system combined with Fairmont EPDM safety rubber surfacing, offering a secure and stimulating environment that supports both physical and cognitive growth. This initiative reflects DLSZ’s belief in the importance of unstructured play as a foundation for creativity, social interaction, and physical fitness.

Fostering Balance Between Learning and Play

For Brother Bernard Oca, President of De La Salle Santiago Zobel, the playground upgrades are more than just infrastructure improvements, they are part of the school’s deeper mission to nurture well-rounded students.

“Upgrading our playgrounds is part of our commitment to give our students a balanced life, allowing them to enjoy their childhood and the world outside their classrooms for more than just scholastic pursuits,” Oca said.

He emphasized that while playgrounds serve as spaces for fun, they also provide children with essential opportunities to develop social skills, strengthen coordination, and stimulate imagination, all of which contribute to better cognitive development and emotional well-being.

Designing Safe and Inspiring Play Spaces

Pamela Romualdez, General Manager of E-Sports International, underscored the role of well-designed playgrounds in supporting a child’s educational journey. She highlighted the company’s focus on creating fun, engaging, and most importantly, safe environments for play.

“We are committed to building facilities that make play time safer and more enjoyable for Filipino students,” Romualdez shared. “The playgrounds we installed at DLSZ are designed to trigger curiosity and exploration, while minimizing common safety risks through thoughtful equipment design and materials.”

One key feature is the use of EPDM rubber surfacing, a non-toxic and odor-free material known for its elasticity, weather resistance, and durability. This shock-absorbing surface helps prevent injuries during active play and provides a comfortable, low-maintenance option for school environments.

Tailored Play Areas for Different Age Groups

At the DLSZ Alabang campus, E-Sports International customized the playground design to meet the developmental needs of younger learners. The Pre-Kinder area features Limonta landscape grass that blends seamlessly with the surrounding greenery, promoting a natural and calming space. For Grade 2 students, a 25mm rubber flooring system provides safety and excellent noise absorption, encouraging more dynamic play while keeping the environment peaceful.

Meanwhile, the Vermosa campus adopted a more inclusive approach. Its expansive playground incorporates the six essential elements of play: climbing, swinging, brachiating, spinning, sliding, and balancing. These activities form the foundation of many sports and help improve strength, coordination, and agility.

The Vermosa design also includes hopscotch areas and play structures in shades of green that reflect Lasallian identity. These elements invite children to experiment, solve problems, and challenge themselves in a secure setting.

A Commitment to Safer, Healthier Childhoods

By investing in these advanced playground systems, De La Salle Santiago Zobel continues to support the overall health and happiness of its students. The partnership with E-Sports International marks a step forward in providing environments that nurture both learning and play, helping children grow into confident, curious, and capable individuals.

As more schools in the Philippines recognize the vital role of play in education, DLSZ stands out as a model for creating balanced, student-centered environments where creativity, safety, and exploration thrive together.
