Beverage Industry in the Philippines Marks 38 Years of Unity and Purpose in a Changing Market
For 38 years, the Beverage Industry Association of the Philippines has stood quietly behind some of the most familiar products in Filipino daily life.
From the bottled water on a lunch table to the soft drinks shared during celebrations, the industry’s reach is constant, even if its work often happens behind the scenes. This year, BIAP marked its 38th anniversary last April 22 in Makati City, gathering member companies to reflect on decades of collaboration and to reaffirm a shared commitment to the future of the sector.
A shared foundation for a fast evolving industry
The Philippine beverage industry moves through a landscape that is changing faster than ever. Regulations continue to evolve, sustainability expectations are rising, and consumers are becoming more mindful of what they drink and how products are made.
Within this environment, BIAP serves as a unifying platform for the country’s leading beverage manufacturers. Established and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 28, 1988, the organization was built to bring together a diverse group of companies under one coordinated voice.
Rather than working in isolation, members collaborate through BIAP to better understand industry wide challenges and to align on solutions that reflect both business realities and public interest. This collective approach has helped the sector engage more constructively with government agencies and other stakeholders on matters such as taxation, product standards, and manufacturing policy.
Strengthening trust through shared standards
Beyond coordination, BIAP plays an important role in shaping the standards that guide the industry. Through voluntary commitments, good manufacturing practices, and a shared code of ethics, member companies work to ensure that beverage products consistently meet expectations for quality and safety.
These shared practices have helped build greater consistency across the sector while reinforcing responsible operations. Over time, this alignment has supported not only product integrity but also broader sustainability efforts within manufacturing and distribution.
BIAP also serves as a channel for knowledge sharing. Through seminars, workshops, and technical discussions, members exchange insights that help improve operations and keep pace with emerging industry developments. These learning spaces also help ensure that information relevant to the sector reaches both companies and the public.
Member companies shaping the sector
The strength of BIAP lies in its membership, which brings together major players across the beverage landscape. These include ARC Refreshments Corporation, Asia Brewery, Inc., Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines, Coca-Cola Philippines, Del Monte Philippines, PepsiCo, Inc., Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc., Mondelez Philippines, Nestlé Philippines, San Miguel Corporation, Universal Robina Corporation, Vouno Trade & Marketing Services, and Philippine Spring Water Resources Inc.
Together, these companies represent a wide spectrum of the industry, combining global experience with deep local presence. Their collaboration under BIAP reflects a shared recognition that long term progress depends on cooperation as much as competition.
Leading the association is President Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, who also serves as Head of Public Affairs and Communications for Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines. Under his leadership, BIAP continues to function as a bridge between industry members, government institutions, and wider communities.
Looking ahead as one industry
As the beverage sector continues to evolve, BIAP’s role remains centered on helping its members adapt responsibly and effectively. This includes supporting innovation, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that industry perspectives are part of important policy conversations.
After nearly four decades, BIAP continues to represent more than just a group of companies. It reflects a shared effort to shape an industry that remains relevant, responsible, and aligned with the country’s long term development goals.
In a market defined by constant change, its message is consistent. Progress is stronger when it is built together.
