TCL and TESDA Strengthen Skills Training for Filipino Technicians with Expanded Second Batch Program
TCL deepens its commitment to Filipino technical talent with a more advanced TESDA training program focused on real world HVAC skills and career readiness
Following the strong results of its first training rollout, TCL, a global leader in television and air conditioning technology, is taking its partnership with TESDA to a higher level through the second batch of its technical skills training program. This latest initiative is designed to give aspiring technicians a richer, more practical learning experience that better prepares them for careers in the growing HVAC industry.
This year’s program focuses on the installation of domestic refrigeration and air conditioning units, with a noticeably longer training duration and a more structured approach. What started as a lecture based foundation in the previous year has now evolved into a hybrid learning model that blends in depth technical discussions with extensive hands on application. The goal is clear: equip trainees with job ready skills aligned with current industry standards.
According to TCL Brand Manager Joseph Cernitchez, the program represents a meaningful step forward in building a stronger technical workforce in the Philippines. He emphasized that the initiative is designed not just to teach theory, but to develop real world capability that translates directly into employment opportunities in today’s competitive environment.
The collaboration between TCL and TESDA continues to serve as a bridge between training and employment. By working closely with industry partners, the program helps ensure that learners are not only trained but also guided toward potential career paths in HVAC service centers and related technical fields.
TESDA Center Administrator Eugene P. Agcaoili also highlighted the importance of the partnership, noting that the collaboration with TCL at the RTC NCR facility demonstrates the power of public and private sector cooperation in creating meaningful opportunities for skills development and workforce growth in the country.
A more immersive learning experience for future technicians
The second batch of the TCL TESDA Training Program brought together 25 selected trainees at the TCL TESDA Center inside the TESDA RTC NCR flagship facility. Over three days, participants underwent a carefully structured program that balanced classroom learning with intensive hands on technical practice.
Training sessions covered the essential foundations of HVAC work including installation, repair, and maintenance. TCL’s product and service specialists were also present throughout the program, sharing real world insights and technical expertise based on actual field experience. This direct industry exposure helped trainees better understand the demands of professional service work.
Participants worked directly with TCL split type air conditioning units during practical sessions, allowing them to apply what they learned in a controlled but realistic environment. This approach helped strengthen both confidence and technical accuracy as they progressed through each module.
Bridging training with employment opportunities
A key highlight of the program was its strong focus on career readiness. TCL extended the initiative beyond technical training by connecting participants with internal teams and authorized dealers. This created a direct link between skills development and possible employment or business opportunities in the HVAC sector.
The training also introduced learners to TCL’s smart home ecosystem, including the TCL Home App and voice command features. By familiarizing trainees with these modern technologies, the program ensures they are prepared to support increasingly connected and digital home environments.
Industry partner Firstar, represented by TCL AC B2B partner Pika Lee, also participated in the program and supported the learner profiling activity conducted on the final day. This segment evolved into a structured evaluation and mini job fair, giving trainees the opportunity to be assessed for potential roles within the network of TCL authorized service providers.
The program concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, formally recognizing the participants’ completion of the training. This certification serves as both a credential and a pathway, validating their technical skills and strengthening their eligibility for employment opportunities in authorized service centers nationwide.
Building long term impact for Filipino technical talent
TCL emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader long term commitment to skills development in the Philippines. According to Cernitchez, the goal is to continuously invest in people who play a vital role in keeping the industry moving forward.
While this batch has officially concluded, TCL confirmed that more training programs are planned in the future as part of its ongoing effort to support and uplift Filipino technicians through practical education and industry collaboration.
