Maya and Visa Launch Seamless Cross-Border Transfers for Overseas Visa Cardholders
Maya, the Philippines’ top digital banking app, has partnered with global payments leader Visa to roll out a groundbreaking cross-border account funding solution.
This new feature allows users to load funds from foreign-issued Visa cards directly into their Maya wallets, bringing added convenience and flexibility to global users, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), tourists, and digital freelancers.Visa and Maya Enable Direct Transfers from Foreign Visa Cards
The collaboration introduces Visa’s Cross-Border Account Funding Transaction (AFT) technology to Maya’s digital ecosystem. With this, users can seamlessly cash in from Visa cards issued abroad and access the money through the Maya app, allowing for easy spending, saving, and investing in the Philippines.
This cross-border capability makes it easier for OFWs, expatriates, and travelers to manage finances remotely, eliminating the traditional hurdles of transferring funds via remittance centers or third-party services.
Convenience, Security, and Global Reach
“Visa is proud to strengthen our partnership with Maya through this new innovation. By allowing account funding from foreign-issued Visa cards, we're giving Maya users more power to manage their money across borders with ease, security, and reliability,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines.
Maya Continues to Lead the Digital Banking Space
Known for its user-friendly features and robust security, Maya has been instrumental in driving the adoption of digital payments in the Philippines. Visa has previously recognized Maya for its market-leading performance in e-commerce and contactless transactions from 2021 to 2024. It also holds the top spot in merchant acquiring volume in the country.
Empowering Overseas Filipinos and Digital Nomads
“With this new service, we’re making it faster and easier for Filipinos abroad to send money to their Maya accounts,” said Khurram Malik, Maya’s Group Chief Commercial Officer. “Maya continues to redefine the way users spend, save, and invest, and this update brings that same innovation to global cross-border payments.”
The integration of Visa's cross-border account funding into Maya is more than just a feature—it’s a step toward a more inclusive and connected digital financial ecosystem. For OFWs, freelancers, and frequent travelers, this update ensures money is only a few taps away, no matter where they are in the world.
