TCL, a global leader in technology and innovation, marked this year’s Olympic Day with the unveiling of a newly refurbished basketball court at Araullo High School on United Nations Avenue in Manila.

As the official Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner for Home Audiovisual Equipment and Home Appliances, TCL continues to live out its brand mission to Inspire Greatness, a principle that aligns closely with the Olympic spirit.

This latest initiative reinforces TCL’s long-term commitment to youth development, community engagement, and the Olympic Sustainable Development Goals. The company hosted the TCL Basketball Camp, a grassroots event that brought together aspiring young athletes, professional coaches, and top local players to encourage excellence and sportsmanship through the game of basketball.

Refurbished Court Opens New Chapter for Student-Athletes

The highlight of the event was the official launch of the fully renovated TCL basketball court. Designed to be more inviting and functional, the 4,700-square-foot indoor playing area and its 2,072-square-foot outdoor extension were given a complete facelift, with paint and support from TCL’s partner, Rain or Shine. To enhance the overall learning and sports environment, TCL also donated televisions and air-conditioning units valued at ₱300,000.

A contract signing between TCL Electronics and Araullo High School marked the formal beginning of this impactful partnership. The ceremony was attended by key figures including TCL Philippines CEO Peter Chen, Deputy Marketing Director Shae Yu, Deputy Product Director Bert Cheung, and Brand Manager Joseph Cernitchez. Rain or Shine’s Assistant Brand Manager Red Magcase and Araullo High’s Assistant School Principal II, Ms. Ebuena P. Alvarez, also graced the occasion.

“We’re proud to celebrate International Olympic Day in such a meaningful way,” said Peter Chen. “This basketball clinic perfectly reflects our dedication to empowering young athletes and helping them reach their full potential.”

Basketball Camp Empowers Youth Through Skills Training

TCL officially kicked off the basketball clinic with a ceremonial shot by Bert Cheung. The event featured intensive skills training facilitated by Better BasketballPH Skills Camp and included participation from 40 young athletes. Adding excitement to the camp was the appearance of JD Cagulangan, standout player from the UP Fighting Maroons and Rookie of the Year in Korea’s KBL with Suwon KT Sonicboom. JD joined the drills and inspired campers by sharing his journey and shooting hoops with the kids.

TCL’s brand ambassador, Blackwater Head Coach Jeffrey Cariaso, also contributed by leading a coaching clinic tailored for PE instructors. He was joined by Mr. Augusto D. Baldoz, Head Teacher VI of Araullo High’s MAPEH Department, as they shared effective training strategies and basketball education insights.

Global Recognition and Continued Olympic Collaboration

Beyond local initiatives, TCL’s role on the world stage continues to grow. In celebration of Olympic Day, TCL was honored at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, with its name permanently displayed on the Donors’ Wall. This acknowledgment highlights TCL’s contribution to advancing smart display and terminal technologies that benefit global sports and culture.

The recognition ceremony was attended by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, IOC President-elect Kirsty Coventry, Olympic Museum Director Angelita Teo, and TCL Technology COO Kevin Wang. The event also featured the unveiling of a marble plaque engraved with TCL’s logo, symbolizing the brand’s enduring commitment to the Olympic movement.

TCL also took part in the historic inauguration of Kirsty Coventry as the IOC’s 10th President, the first woman and first African to hold the role. Her leadership reflects the values behind TCL’s TCLforHer initiative, which aims to empower women through technology and culture on a global scale.

Inspiring the Next Generation Through Technology and Sport

To further extend its Olympic Day celebration, TCL launched its first global campaign aligned with the IOC’s “Let’s Move” initiative. The campaign’s highlight is a visually stunning film connecting future Olympic host cities through TCL’s cutting-edge display technologies. With the 2025 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics approaching, TCL plans to continue using sport as a platform to promote unity, innovation, and cultural engagement.

As TCL continues to make strides both globally and locally, events like the Araullo High School basketball clinic show how meaningful partnerships can empower the next generation of athletes. Through shared values of excellence, community, and inspiration, TCL remains focused on creating a brighter and more active future.

“In everything we do, we want to pass on the Olympic spirit to the youth,” said Peter Chen. “Our collaboration with Araullo High School is only the beginning. We look forward to organizing more dynamic events that bring people together and celebrate the power of sports.”
