As the morning sun rose over the beaches of Lapu-Lapu City, young athletes from across the Philippines gathered for one of the most anticipated youth sporting events of the year, the IRONKIDS Lapu-Lapu triathlon, held at Dusit Thani Mactan.

Among the proud partners of the event was RLC Residences, showing its ongoing commitment to supporting children’s growth through sports and community involvement.

The race marked the final leg of this year’s IRONKIDS Philippines series, bringing together hundreds of kids for a swim-run competition that celebrated more than athletic performance. For RLC Residences, the event was an opportunity to help shape the next generation of champions—not just in sports, but in life.

Building Champions Through Sports and Community

“The true finish line isn’t just where the race ends, but where a child’s growth begins,” said Karen Cesario, Senior Director and Marketing Head of RLC Residences. “We believe in empowering families to raise young athletes in supportive environments. That’s what being part of the RLC Residences Junior Triathlon Team is all about.”

From starting with just eight members, the RLC Residences Junior Triathlon Team has now grown to twenty athletes from Luzon, Cebu, and Davao. This increase reflects a strong and growing interest from young aspiring triathletes who see the team as a path to discipline, confidence, and personal achievement.

Podium Finishes and Proud Moments

This year’s IRONKIDS event also saw impressive finishes from several members of the RLC Residences Junior Triathlon Team:

  • Amy Takei secured first place in the 6–8 years old female category
  • Johan Benedict Santos claimed first place in the 6–8 years old male category
  • Xavier Benedict Belleza earned third place in the same male division

These wins were celebrated not just as individual accomplishments, but as a testament to the hard work, support, and encouragement each child receives from their families and coaches.

A Tradition of Family and Togetherness

Ahead of race day, RLC Residences hosted its signature Family Day—an event designed to strengthen bonds between young athletes, their parents, and coaches. Filled with games, team activities, and meaningful conversations, the gathering emphasized the company’s belief that thriving athletes come from tight-knit and nurturing communities.

“The growing interest in our triathlon team is incredibly inspiring,” said Cesario. “It’s not just about training for a race. It’s about helping kids believe in their potential and giving families a community that shares that vision. We want to build more than athletes, we want to build a culture of striving, belonging, and resilience.”

Role Models On and Off the Course

The weekend’s celebrations didn’t end with the kids. RLC Residences Junior Triathlon coaches Ronald Molit and Alex Martin, along with IRONKIDS parents Hiroshi Takei (father of Amy Takei) and Nemiel Santos (father of Johan Benedict Santos), competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu event.

Their participation sent a powerful message to young athletes—that passion and discipline continue to matter at every stage of life. Notably, Takei finished sixth in the Men’s 50–54 age group, while the RLC Residences relay team, made up of Paulo Cañas, Atty. Manley Cardinez, and Rafael Silerio, placed 14th overall.

Investing in the Future of Filipino Youth

Through its ongoing support of IRONKIDS and other community-driven programs, RLC Residences continues to champion opportunities for youth development. These initiatives highlight the company’s dedication to creating environments where children can grow not just as athletes, but as confident, capable individuals.
