Teen author Jacqueline Dominique Go is inspiring young readers once again with the release of her second children’s book, The Adventures of Damgo: Leon in the Waterworld.

This new installment in the beloved series takes young astronaut Damgo on an unforgettable journey to a magical oceanic planet filled with vibrant marine life and valuable lessons about environmental responsibility.

The book was officially launched on August 13 at Book Nook in SM Podium, drawing enthusiastic readers and supporters who have followed Damgo’s story since the beginning. Go expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, recalling how the series started as a passion project and quickly gained momentum after the success of her debut title.

“I was nervous but excited when I released the first book,” said Go. “I never imagined it would connect with so many readers and grow into something so meaningful.”

Just like the first book, Leon in the Waterworld is more than a children’s story. It’s a collaborative effort between Go and the young cancer patients and resident artists of Bahay Aruga, a shelter for pediatric cancer warriors. Their artwork brings Damgo’s underwater adventure to life, adding emotional depth and creative energy to every page.

“Working with the kids from Bahay Aruga is the heart of this series,” said Go. “Their imagination and strength are incredible. Seeing their art come alive in the book is a powerful reminder of how creativity can uplift and heal.”

This second volume continues Damgo’s evolution as a character, reflecting Go’s own journey as a young writer. “Damgo isn’t just a character. He represents my own growth,” she shared. “His curiosity, his bravery, and his desire to make a difference mirror how I’ve grown as both an author and a person.”

With Leon in the Waterworld, Go introduces a timely theme: environmental awareness. She hopes the book sparks conversations among young readers about how small actions can create positive change for the planet.

“I wanted this story to show that even children have the power to protect the Earth,” said Go. “Through Damgo’s adventure, I want readers to understand that the environment matters and that we all have a role in safeguarding it.”

Looking ahead, Go confirmed that more adventures are in store for Damgo, with the third book already in development. Each book in the series continues to support the mission of giving back, with proceeds benefiting Bahay Aruga and highlighting the resilience and creativity of its young artists.

The Adventures of Damgo: Leon in the Waterworld is now available through Bookshelf PH
and other major online bookstores in the Philippines.

For parents, educators, and readers looking for meaningful children’s literature that entertains while promoting empathy, environmental stewardship, and social impact, Jacqueline Go’s latest book is a must-read.
