Alicia Silverstone Heats Up the Screen in Twisted New Thriller Pretty Thing
Alicia Silverstone is back, and bolder than ever, in Pretty Thing, a seductive psychological thriller where love turns dangerous, and obsession runs wild.
Set to premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play starting September 5, via PLDT Home, Smart, and Cignal, this slow-burn erotic thriller shows Silverstone in a fierce new light as she reclaims her space in the genre that launched her career.
In Pretty Thing, Silverstone plays Sophie, a high-powered pharmaceutical executive who lives by structure and control. Her life is routine, her marriage emotionally distant, and her focus locked tightly on work. That is, until she meets Elliot, played by Karl Glusman, a charming younger man whose affection quickly turns intense.
What begins as a calculated affair soon spirals into something far more dangerous. Elliot’s charm gives way to obsession, and Sophie finds herself losing the control she once relied on. With every encounter, the tension grows, building into a chilling battle for power, freedom, and survival.
Written by Jack Donnelly and directed by Justin Kelly, Pretty Thing steers clear of cheap thrills or overused twists. Instead, it masterfully builds a sense of slow, creeping dread, where even the smallest moments pulse with danger.
For longtime fans, this marks a powerful full-circle moment for Silverstone. Her breakout role in The Crush, back in 1993, also explored obsession but from the opposite side of the mirror. Then, she played the teenage stalker. Now, she is the woman being hunted. The evolution is striking, and Silverstone brings a depth and maturity that adds real weight to every scene.
Speaking about the film, Alicia shared with UPI, “I love that it starts as this really beautiful, romantic story, and then it takes a turn. It becomes something much darker and addictive. You think you’re in a love story, and suddenly you’re not.”
Pretty Thing promises to keep you hooked from the first look to the final chilling twist. It is provocative, intense, and a welcome return for an actress who knows exactly how to command the screen.
Catch Pretty Thing streaming September 5, only on Lionsgate Play via PLDT Home, Smart, and Cignal.
