Young Marikina Spelling Champion Shines at SM Super Spelling Bee in SM City Marikina
Excitement filled the air at SM City Marikina on September 6, 2025, as over 180 talented students gathered for the highly anticipated SM Super Spelling Bee Elimination Round.
The event, held at the Ground Level near Ace Hardware, brought together eager young spellers from public and private schools across Marikina, all ready to showcase their mastery of words and passion for learning.
Open to students in Grades 5 and 6, ages 10 to 12, the competition was a thrilling display of focus and determination. Families, teachers, and shoppers cheered on the young participants as they navigated challenging rounds, testing their spelling skills and confidence on stage. After an intense showdown, Zarex Celis from Sta. Elena Elementary School emerged as the standout champion, earning the top spot in SM City Marikina’s leg of the contest.
Now in its second year, the SM Super Spelling Bee has expanded to include 40 SM Supermalls nationwide, providing a platform for young word lovers to celebrate their talents and foster a lifelong love of learning. This year’s competition holds special significance as it coincides with SM Supermalls’ 40th anniversary, a celebration of their dedication to creating spaces where families can connect, grow, and enjoy meaningful experiences together.
This inspiring event was made possible thanks to the support of National Book Store, National University, Power Mac Center, and Jollibee, partners committed to nurturing creativity, confidence, and academic excellence among the youth.
Congratulations to Zarex Celis for this well-earned victory! We eagerly look forward to seeing your success as you advance to the next round of the SM Super Spelling Bee.
