L’Oréal Brings Global Beauty Tech Innovation Program to the Philippines

1:40 PM

L’Oréal is putting the spotlight on the Philippines with the launch of its 2025 Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program,

a first-of-its-kind opportunity designed to uncover the next wave of beauty technology pioneers.

As part of a wider regional rollout across the South Asia Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa (SAPMENA), the program gives Filipino startups a chance to break into the global beauty industry through innovation and collaboration.

This year, the program is expanding to include Australia and New Zealand, solidifying its position as the largest open innovation competition for beauty tech in the region. Startups are invited to submit ideas that align with one of five core categories: Consumer Experience, Content and Media, New Commerce, Tech for Good, and the newly introduced Science for Beauty.

Why L’Oréal Chose the Philippines for Beauty Tech Innovation

The Philippines offers fertile ground for innovation, with its booming beauty industry and fast-growing digital economy. The local beauty and personal care market is expected to generate over $6.5 billion USD in revenue by 2025, with nearly 40 percent of that projected to come from online sales. Filipino consumers are highly engaged on digital platforms, spending an average of four hours daily on social media — a key channel for beauty brands and creators.

The country’s tech ecosystem is equally promising. Over 1,000 active startups are already fueling digital growth, with the Philippine digital economy projected to hit $35 billion USD by 2025. With strong consumer interest in personalization, convenience, and online experiences, the Philippines is well-positioned to become a leader in beauty tech innovation.

Empowering Filipino Startups Through Global Collaboration

L’Oréal Philippines is actively supporting the local innovation scene by providing access to its global network of brands, resources, and industry experts. Through the Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program, Filipino startups will have the opportunity to:

  • Launch a commercial pilot funded by L’Oréal with one of its 37 international brands
  • Access a year-long mentorship program with senior executives from L’Oréal and its global partners
  • Gain regional exposure across 35 SAPMENA markets
  • Compete on a global stage with visibility in key innovation hubs

Yassine Bakkari, Managing Director of L’Oréal Philippines, emphasized the importance of nurturing homegrown talent.

“The Philippines is home to a digital-first generation that is redefining beauty. Through this program, we are empowering startups to create cutting-edge solutions that merge science, technology, and beauty. Our goal is to help Filipino innovators scale globally while putting the Philippines on the map for beauty tech.”

A Regional Opportunity with Global Impact

The SAPMENA zone represents 40 percent of the world’s population and over 60 percent of the global youth market — many of whom shop online weekly. With such a massive consumer base and high digital engagement, the region presents immense growth potential for innovative startups.

Finalists from each country will participate in online semi-finals in August and September 2025, followed by the Grand Finale in Singapore on November 5, 2025. A panel of expert judges, including executives from L’Oréal and global partners such as Google, Accenture, and Meta, will select the top innovations.

How to Join the 2025 Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program

Filipino startups interested in transforming the future of beauty through technology are encouraged to apply before the submission deadline on May 30, 2025. This is a unique opportunity to gain mentorship, secure pilot funding, and access global markets through one of the world’s most recognized beauty companies.
