Watsons Brings Quality Healthcare Closer to Communities Through Alagang Pangkalusugan Medical Missions
Watsons Philippines continues to make a lasting impact on Filipino communities through its ongoing health initiative, Alagang Pangkalusugan.
As the country’s leading health and beauty retailer, Watsons is bringing essential healthcare services directly to underserved areas, empowering Filipinos to take charge of their well-being.Making Healthcare More Accessible in Mandaluyong
On April 29, Watsons brought its Alagang Pangkalusugan medical mission to Mandaluyong City, marking the fourth stop of the program in 2025. The event was held at the Mandaluyong College of Science and Technology and served 726 residents from various local communities.
Participants received a range of free medical services, including general consultations for adults and children. Diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (ECG), X-rays, and bone screenings were also provided. In addition, attendees benefited from dental services like tooth extraction and wellness checks such as blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid testing. Hair and skin analysis offered a holistic view of each participant’s health status.
A Strong Commitment to Public Health and Sustainability
Watsons Philippines is committed to creating long-term value through its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. According to Sharon Decapia, Senior Assistant Vice President for Marketing, PR, and Sustainability, the Alagang Pangkalusugan initiative aligns closely with the company’s goals to promote preventive care and sustainable wellness.
“We believe in supporting the total health of our customers—not just through our stores, but through outreach efforts that give people access to care they might not otherwise receive,” said Decapia. “By encouraging communities to prioritize health, we build a stronger, healthier nation.”
Powered by Collaboration and Volunteerism
The success of the Mandaluyong medical mission was made possible through a partnership with the Mandaluyong City government, its City Health Board, and several key brand partners. Watsons also mobilized its own employees, with 30 team members—20 from nearby stores and 10 from the head office—volunteering their time to assist with the event.
“Our employee volunteer program gives team members a way to contribute to meaningful causes,” Decapia shared. “These efforts not only support community health but also strengthen our connection with customers outside of the retail environment.”
Alagang Pangkalusugan: Serving Filipinos Nationwide
Since launching in 2013, the Alagang Pangkalusugan program has brought free healthcare services to communities across the Philippines. Earlier this year, medical missions were held in Camarines Sur, Benguet, and Cebu, with a total of 2,585 individuals receiving care. The program is scheduled to reach even more towns throughout the rest of the year.
“We are deeply encouraged by how communities respond to these initiatives,” Decapia added. “Many people do not have easy access to healthcare. Our goal is to help close that gap by raising awareness and improving access to quality medical services and products.”
Supporting Wellness Every Day
Beyond its medical missions, Watsons continues to champion health and wellness through its stores and digital platforms. With over 1,000 locations nationwide and a user-friendly mobile app, Watsons makes it easy for Filipinos to shop for trusted health and beauty products.
