Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation Champions Environmental Sustainability with New Eco-Friendly Field Sales Uniforms

Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) has taken a significant step toward environmental responsibility by introducing new sustainable uniforms for its Field Sales team. These uniforms, made from recycled plastic bottles, reflect APC’s deep commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting a circular economy.

The new uniforms are more than just updated workwear. They are a daily reminder of APC’s mission to integrate sustainability into every aspect of its operations. With over 400 field personnel now donning eco-conscious attire, the company demonstrates that practical sustainability can be woven into the fabric of business.

Transforming Plastic Waste into Purpose
APC partnered with Custom Sports and Leisure Manufacturing Corp. (CSL) to bring this initiative to life. Together, they recycled and repurposed approximately 7,005 plastic bottles into high-performance, breathable shirts. These uniforms not only enhance the comfort and mobility of the field sales team but also deliver measurable environmental benefits.

“More than just a uniform update, this represents APC’s unwavering commitment to responsible business practices and our long-term sustainability roadmap,” said Ernie Carlos, APC’s Chief Sustainability Officer and Director for Supply Chain. “Our field sales team now wears not just our brand, but our values.”

A Measurable Impact on Sustainability
CSL emphasized the environmental gains of using recycled materials. According to Adam Clark, Corporate Secretary at CSL, garments made from recycled polyester can reduce energy consumption by up to 60 percent compared to virgin polyester. Each shirt in the new line contains approximately 14 percent certified recycled plastic, collected through various community and industrial recycling programs.

Supporting Global and Local Sustainability Goals
This initiative is part of APC Group’s broader 2030 sustainability targets, which include reducing environmental impact by half while actively engaging stakeholders in sustainable transformation. With increasing concerns about global plastic pollution, such efforts highlight the role of corporate responsibility in driving positive change.

Global organizations, including the World Economic Forum, continue to raise alarms about the growing plastic waste crisis. Ajinomoto’s response converts potential environmental hazards into practical and visible solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.

Bringing Sustainability Closer to Filipino Households
With this campaign, Ajinomoto Philippines sets a strong example for how businesses can incorporate environmental responsibility into everyday operations. By turning discarded plastic into purpose-driven apparel, the company proves that sustainability can be worn with pride — and that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a larger movement for good.
