Nemesis Crowned Champion at Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines 2025
After months of intense qualifier rounds across Davao, Manila, and Cebu, the energy reached its peak on May 24 as the Queen City of the South hosted the Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines National Final for the very first time.
Held at Ayala Center Cebu, the event brought together the best street dancers from across the country, each one battling for a chance to represent the Philippines on the global stage. An Epic Dance Battle in Cebu
Dancers lit up the floor with electrifying performances in hip-hop, house, locking, waacking, and even voguing. But it was Sam Rivera, known as Nemesis in the street dance community, who took home the crown, becoming the 2025 Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines Champion.
“This was my third time joining Red Bull Dance Your Style. Winning the title in my hometown, Cebu, makes it extra special,” said Nemesis. “It’s a huge honor.”
The Power of Hometown Support
For the first time, the National Final was held in Cebu, and Nemesis embraced the moment. “I was excited because my family and friends could finally watch me dance live. Seeing them in the crowd gave me the energy I needed.”
She added, “The Cebuano crowd was amazing, they lifted all of us on stage, not just me. That kind of community support really matters.”
Red Bull Dance Your Style: More Than a Competition
The National Final wasn’t just about crowning a winner, it was a celebration of urban culture in Cebu. The crowd enjoyed live performances by Cebuana artist Karencitta and the local dance group SZHD, making it a full-on cultural experience.
The event showcased not just high-level dance talent but also the vibrant street culture and creativity of Cebu.
Next Stop: Los Angeles for the World Final
With her win, Nemesis earns the honor of representing the Philippines at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final on October 11 in Los Angeles, USA, a first-time journey outside Asia for the Cebuana krumper.
“I want to show the world what Filipino dancers are capable of. My goal is to connect, express, and dance my heart out.”
To prepare for the global stage, Nemesis shared her strategy: “I’ll stick to my usual routine—train my body, sharpen my mind, and stay grounded in faith. For me, it’s about balance, mental, physical, and spiritual.”
